Portarlington Job Club first opened its doors on the 1st November 1999 and is now one of the most successful in the whole country. The Portarlington Job Club is sponsored and managed by the Portarlington Community Development Association and funded by the Department of Social Protection. There are three members of staff in the Portarlington Job club, one full time and two part-time. The Portarlington job club provides support and training to people seeking work and caters for the following groups:
Long Term Unemployed – Short Term Unemployed – Under Employed – Early School Leavers – Graduates – Non Irish Nationals.
Every member of the community is welcomed to the job club to use the facilities and resources.
Facilities available: Formal Job Seeking Skills Training and Personal Development
Modules included : CV Preparation and Design – Letters of Application -Application Forms – Aptitude Tests – Interview Skills – Self Confidence – Computer Applications –Information Provision.
One to One interviews are available to people who cannot attend formal workshops and who need assistance with CV s, Interview Preparation etc.
Computer Suite – There are 15 PCs available for people to make applications for work or to complete on-line training with support.
Members are invited back to use the computer suite & access training until they have found suitable employment.
